San Fernando City Mayor Dong Gualberto said high-speed broadband internet will soon come to the city.
The development came about after the La Union politiko signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for the construction of high-speed broadband infrastructure in San Fernando.
“This government initiative is called the Luzon Bypass Infrastructure Project, the first of its kind which aims to lower the cost of government Internet connectivity while providing an ultra-speed Internet backbone for the whole country by 2019,” Gualberto said.
“This will also support the ‘Free Public Wi-Fi Project’ and other DICT projects, plans and initiatives for the long term,” he said.
La Union, together with Baler, Aurora, will be the landing stations for the Luzon Bypass Infrastructure Project.
