Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said that Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Manny Piñol has approved the the city government’s request to use a portion of the Baguio Dairy Farm as a temporary waste transfer station.
The Baguio politiko said Piñol even increased the land area for the temporary transfer station from 5,000 square meters to 1 hectare.
Domogan said this will allow garbage trucks more room to maneuver.
“We are elated that Secretary Piñol handed his much awaited approval on the temporary use of the desired area as the city’s temporary transfer station while we are also working on the deed of usufruct with Benguet Corporation allowing the city to use some 24.11 hectares of its Antamok open pit for the proposed integrated solid waste disposal facility,” Domogan said.
He also said the development is part of the city government’s multi-approach solution to Baguio’s garbage problem.
