Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan, in a statement, said the Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC) and the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) are committed to helping the national government to end violence and to secure a permanent ceasefire between the military and the communist rebels.
The Baguio politiko, who is also chairman of the RDC-CAR and RPOC-CAR, said that attaining “just and lasting peace” will translate to rural development and the eventual eradication of poverty.
The Duterte administration is talking peace with the National Democratic Front (NDF).
Domogan urged the national government to continue peace negotiations and pursue sustainable socio-economic reforms.
The RDC-CAR earlier pushed for autonomy under the Duterte administration’s plan to shift to federalism.
