Outgoing Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan called on the Cordillera’s indigenous peoples (IP) to remained united for the sake of peace in the region.
The Baguio politiko made the remark during the IP thanksgiving celebration of Commissioner Gaspar Cayat of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).
Domogan said the region’s IPs should maintain their unity in order to achieve their goals, specifically their quest for autonomy.
“We must continue passing on to the present and future generations the bond of unity that has been passed on to us by our ancestors,” he said.
“It is through our ability to unite amidst our diverse culture and traditions that have made us unique from the others,” Domogan added.
