Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan called on Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat to reconsider her support for the return of the management of Burnham Park to the tourism department.
The Baguio politiko said that the reason why the management of Burnham Park was turned over to the local government was because of the mismanagement of the Philippine Tourism Authority – National Parks Development Committee (PTA-NPDC) during the 90s.
Domogan explained that he and former Baguio representative Bernardo Vergara asked former President Fidel V. Ramos to give the administration of the park to the city government.
Puyat earlier expressed her support for the bill proposing the return of Burnham Park management to the national government.
Domogan said he welcomes Puyat’s continuing dialogue with stakeholders.
