Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said he is supporting the proposed amendment to the Plastic and Styrofoam-free Ordinance in the Summer Capital to allow the use of biodegradable plastics.
The ordinance bans the use of any kind of plastic and styrofoam as packaging in Baguio City.
The Baguio politiko there is already new technology that allows for biodegradable plastic.
“There is a need to amend the ordinance to allow the use of plastic materials that are proven to be not hazardous to the environment,” Domogan said.
“I believe that with the advancement of technology, there are those materials that will pass this requirement,” he added.
