Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan, in a resolution, lauded bodybuilder Mylene Eugenio for her second runner-up finish in the Women’s Physique category of the “Men of Steel International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Pro Qualifier” held in Malaysia.
Eugenio, who is from Barangay Kias, is a gym trainer in Baguio.
She is a mother of two and has been a regular podium finisher in bodybuilding competitions.
Domogan said Eugenio’s achievement disproves stereotypes against women.
“There is a stereotype that women cannot excel or even compete in the male-dominated sport of bodybuilding due to the traditional image that they are frail and weak. As time has clearly shown, women are now going head-to-head with men in all aspects of professions and even sports,” he said.
