Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the country’s Summer Capital is already feeling the benefits of the Philippines’ membership in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The Baguio politiko cited gains in Cordillera’s economy and tourism because of the ASEAN.
“Investors from neighboring countries open opportunities for better jobs and improved quality of life in the locality and the region as a whole,” Domogan said.
He also said tourism arrivals in Baguio City and the rest of the Cordillera region have increased because of visitors coming from the ASEAN and other foreign countries.
Domogan added that other countries can help the Philippines in terms of maintaing security in the region.
“A sustained relationship can help develop the city’s safety especially on raising security against possible terrorist attacks,” he said.
