Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan called on Cordillerans to continue the quest for autonomy despite the Duterte administration’s push to shift to federalism.
The Baguio politiko insisted Cordillera’s quest for autonomy does not conflict with federalism.
Domogan said autonomy for Cordillera must be achieved because it is enshrined in the 1987 Constitution.
He also said Cordillera autonomy must be achieved before the Philippines shifts to federalism.
“We do not want to be left out and be treated as second-class citizens in a bigger federal state. We should therefor strive for what is contained in the Constitution before it will be too late for us to struggle for self-governance,” Domogan said.
