Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan once again stressed that the administration of Burnham Park is better under the city government.
The Baguio politiko is reacting to the proposal to return the operations of Burnham Park to the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Domogan said the reason why Burnham Park is being managed by the Baguio city government right now is because of it was not properly maintained under the Philippine Tourism Authority-National Parks Development Committee (PTA-NPDC).
He explained that the DOT failed to properly subsidize the operations of Burnham Park in the past.
Domogan also said that the city government is spending P42 million to maintain the park annually.
“It is still best that the management of Burnham Park will remain with the local government because we know what should be done to at least maintain its status as the city’s premier park and the most frequented place in the city,” he said.
