Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan said the Benguet Corporation (BC) has already issued a deed of usufruct for its Antamok open pit site to be used as the Summer Capital’s solid waste disposal facility.
The Baguio politiko said the deed of usufruct for the 12-hectare portion of the Antamok open pit site is being reviewed by the City Legal Office.
He also said the establishment of the solid waste disposal facility in Antamok will address Baguio’s waste problem.
“We continue aggressively search for the most appropriate solution to our garbage disposal problem through a more efficient and effective solid waste disposal system using the latest environmentally-friendly technology,” Domogan said.
But he also said the city government is still considering using the city-owned 139-hectare property in Sto. Tomas despite the offer from BC.
