Santa Barbara Mayor Joel de los Santos urged other local government units to allow residents to travel to their areas of work.
The Pangasinan politiko made the statement after receiving complaints that they were refused entry because of the spike of coronavirus disease (COVID19) cases in Santa Barbara.
One hundred thirty-five workers of a San Miguel Corporation plant tested positive for COVID19.
Ninety-one of the 135 positive workers live in Santa Barbara.
“I have instructed our police chief to coordinate with the provincial director and said that is not what is contained in the protocol of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF),” De los Santos said.
“Discrimination is very hard to deal with but they should understand that the patients are already contained in quarantine facilities and there’s nothing to worry about anymore and the police are already on alert in locked down barangays,” he added.
