Mankayan Mayor Frenzel Ayong asked for residents’ understanding for the strict implementation of community quarantine measures in the town.
This after the municipal government was criticized for requiring swab test results before residents can make government transactions at the municipal hall.
Ayong said the municipal government is being cautious because of the projected spike in coronavirus disease (COVID19) cases after the Christmas holidays.
“We are not imposing such requirements for the sake of imposing them or just to add up to the burden of our constituents but it is for the protection of the health and safety of everyone in the municipality,” he said.
“We believe that prevention is still better than cure that is why we are trying to crack just to come up with solutions to abate the spread of the virus,” he added.
