Mankayan Mayor Frenzel Ayong is asking the Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company (LCMC) to turn over a 3-kilometer road from Tubo going to the Lepanto mining site to the municipal government for proper maintenance.
The Mountain Province politiko explained that the road is currently considered private property that’s why the municipal government cannot use public funds to maintain it.
Ayong said the condition of the road has deteriorated with the abolition of the “road gang.”
“We are simply awaiting the action of Lepanto to our previous request to cede the road lot to the municipal government through a deed of usufruct,” he said.
Ayong said once the deed of usufruct has been signed they “can help maintain the good condition of the road with the use of available public funds for the convenient travel of motorists going in and out of the locality.”
