Bauko Mayor Abraham Akilit has created a task force that will formulate solutions to curb communist recruitment in the town.
The move is in compliance with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to be active in the fight against local communist armed conflict in the Philippines.
The Mountain Province politiko said the task force will first identify the root causes of the armed conflict in the municipality.
Once the root causes are identified, Akilit will transmit his recommendations to concerned government agencies.
Bauko is one of the usual escape routes of communist rebels from Abra, Ilocos Sur, and other Northern Luzon towns.
