Bauko Mayor Abraham Akilit slammed several government officials who are allegedly sabotaging the construction of the Cordillera Regional Disaster Center.
The Mountain Province politiko said representatives of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Provincial Schools Division padlocked the construction site.
Akilit also said the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP-CAR) came out with a pronouncement that the site of the disaster center is part of the public domain.
“We do not understand why there are some private or public officers who want the project to be delayed when it will benefit not only the people of Mountain Province but also other people who will be in needed of evacuation areas from other parts of the region during emergency situations,” Akilit said.
He also said the NCIP-CAR order had no basis.
