Baguio City Representative Mark Go said Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Education Policy has not delivered in its intention to better teach young students.

Under the Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Education Policy, the students’ mother tongue will be used as method of instruction.

The Baguio politiko has filed House Bill No, 6405 which seeks a return to the original method of instruction which is English or Filipino from Kinder to Grade 3.

“The Mother Tongue-based Multilingual Education Policy has not delivered on the intention for which it was created,” Go said.

“Our education system is not equipped to implement the policy due to lack of resources and trainings, varied use of mother tongue among household and mobility of students and teachers from different ethno-linguistic backgrounds,” he added.
