Baguio City Representative Mark Go said the “Doktor Para sa Bayan Act” will allow more parts of the country to “stand a better chance” against public health issues.
The Baguio politiko made the remark after the measure lapsed into law last month.
The law aims to grant full medical scholarships to deserving Filipino students.
Go said the law is not about its authors but the many people who will benefit from it.
“The Doktor Para sa Bayan Act is a victory not for us authors of this law, but a victory really for our country’s medical community, for the striving students and their families, and for the poor and disenfranchised, and the many localities all over the country who will stand a better chance against the multitude of medical and public health issues faced by our fellow Filipinos,” he said.
