Baguio City Representative Mark Go said ” a certain level of benevolence” is needed to become a public physician.
The Baguio politiko made the remark after the “Doktor Para sa Bayan Act” lapsed into law last month.
“I believe that it takes a certain level of benevolence to pursue a career in public service, and it takes an even greater standard of selflessness and compassion to become a public physician,” Go said.
He also said the law will allow underprivileged students to break societal barriers.
“The Doktor Para sa Bayan Act is a complete package, because we want the students to triumph, and so we seek to break down all these barriers which hinder them from achieving their goal,” Go said.
