A baby was all it took for the Marcos and Manglapus families to reconcile their political differences.
The patriarchs of both clans – ex-President Ferdinand Marcos and ex-Foreign Affaris Secretary Raul Manglapus were contemporaries. But when Marcos became president, Manglapus opposed him. The latter was even against the return of Marcos’ remains to the Philippines during the Aquino administration years later.
But the hatchet has been buried, because Mike, grandson of Marcos, and Cara, granddaughter of Manglapus, are not only getting married – they already have a baby!
Little Mia had her christening on Tuesday, November 7. Mia’s grandmother and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos shared pictures on Facebook.
“Baby Mia, my first grandchild, symbolizes a new chapter of healing and unity among the Marcos and Manglapus clans,” said Marcos.
All’s well that ends well!
