A magnitude 5.3 earthquake was recorded in Ilocos Sur this afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
According to the organization, the epicenter of the quake was recorded 53 kilometers south of Candon. Philvocs added that the earthquake was caused by a movement of an active fault in the area.
Intensity III was recorded in Vigan City Ilocos Sur; Intensity II in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, San Antonio, Zambales, as well as Bolinao and Dagupan City in Pangasinan; Intensity I in Infanta, Pangasinan, Pasuquin and Laoag City in Ilocos Norte were also recorded after the quake.
Phivolcs warned the public of possible aftershocks due to this quake.
