Local broadcaster, 3 companions arrested for robbery-extortion in Pangasinan

A local broadcaster in San Carlos City, Pangasinan was arrested by the authorities for alleged robbery-extortion.

In an interview, Pangasinan Police Provincial Office director Col. Jeff Fanged identified the suspects as Ronald Sison, a broadcaster from a local radio station, along with his three companions, Bryan Caballero, Arvin Garin, and Alejandro Caldona.

Police officers also confiscated guns and ammunition during the arrest. According to Fanged, victims have reported that the suspects allegedly demanded money from them in exchange for protection of the “peryahan” (amusement park) they are manning. They were also asked to pay P10,000 as “protection money”.

“The suspects went to the peryahan (amusement and gaming park) and harassed the victims, demanding them to give P10,000 in exchange for the protection of their business,” he said. “Because of fear, the victims gave the suspects the money they demanded.”

The Pangasinan police are currently preparing charges to be filed against the suspects.
