The local government of Baguio City has asked local hotels and lodging businesses to help small businesses and sell souvenirs and delicacies to tourists.

According to Resolution No. 540-2021, hotels and accommodation establishments are asked to give spaces within their premises for the possible installation of stalls or booths to qualified and registered souvenirs, delicacies, and “pasalubong” (souvenir, delicacies) retailers or sellers.

In an interview, Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan said that this is an effort to revive the economy of Baguio City in a holistic approach. The Politiko said that it has been a practice before the pandemic that sellers of souvenirs or delicacies were allowed to conduct their businesses within the premises of hotels in the city for the convenience and easy access of guests and customers to local products.
