Senator Panfilo Lacson called on Baguio residents to take care of “young trees” instead of just planting new ones.
Lacson made the statement during the recent 110th Baguio Charter Day celebration.
He explained that many young trees are being neglected because most people are focusing on planting new tree seedlings.
Lacson urged people planting trees to revisit the tree seedlings they planted to make sure they are actually growing.
“In our annual budget, we allot some five billion pesos for the government’s greening program,” he said.
“For next year, what the government’s plan is to plant over one hundred million seedlings but the question here is where are the greens,” Lacson added.
