The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) raised Typhoon Karding’s death toll to eight on Tuesday, September 27.
In an updated report, NDRRMC said that five of the fatalities were rescuers who drowned in San Miguel, Bulacan. Two fatalities were reported in Zambales and one was from Quezon province.
It added that three residents from Mercedes, Camarines Norte are still missing.
In its 8 a.m. bulletin, NDRRMC also cited a total of 60,817 persons or 16,476 families affected by the recent typhoon, covering 948 barangays across Ilocos Region, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
