Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile said he supports the establishment of a second coal-fired power plant in Sual, Pangasinan.
Negotiations for Sual’s second coal-fired power plant are currently ongoing.
The Cagayan politiko said power plants are needed to address the energy crisis in the country.
“We do not have any source of hydrocarbon energy in the country except Malampaya,” Enrile said.
“If a war happens in Russia or in the Middle East or in Africa or Latin America that will affect the supply of crude, what do you think will happen here? In one week’s time, we will not have supply of power,” he added.
