Former Senate president Juan Ponce Enrile said he was just fulfilling his “duty” to the Philippines when he posted his warning against China’s supposed occupation of Fuga Islands.
The Cagayan politiko has called on Filipinos to remain vigilant against supposed attempts by Chinese investors to establish themselves on the Fuga Island Group off the coast of Northern Luzon.
The Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) has denied the reports.
“I have no beef against red China. I am simply doing my duty to my country,” Enrile said.
“I am simply warning my countrymen to be very alert and careful in dealing with other nations and peoples whose national or personal interests my differ from the national interests of my own native land,” he added.
