Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Singson is dead serious about implementing the ban on the entry of pork and pork products into the province since the outbreak of the African swine fever.
The politiko plans to file cases against individuals riding a van that was later found to be containing eight drums of pork meat inside on Thursday, November 28.
Among those nabbed were driver Neneth Santos and passengers Elizabeth Tomas and Mark Jerome Igna for violating Provincial Ordinance Number 15-06 series 2015.
“We will file charges against these violators. Through my executive order, there is a temporary ban on the entry of live hogs, pork, and other pork by-products in our province and yet violators are insisting to come in,” said Singson.
“They will definitely face sanctions. This is to safeguard our hog industry against the spread of harmful diseases,” he added.
