A total of 101 healthcare workers and medical frontliners have tested positive for COVID-19 as of yesterday, August 5.

Local health officials reported that staff of local COVID referral hospitals have contracted the virus while working on their shifts. Dr. Josephine Ruedas, provincial health officer, said that medical frontliners from the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) are in “locked in-duty” as they treat other COVID patients.

Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Manotoc has apologized to all health workers, especially to those in MMMH&MC who have been infected.
