The Baguio City Fire Department reported an increase in fire incidents in the city during the months of April to August this year.
According to the report, the local fire department recorded 15 fire incidents in five months, or a 15.38 percent increase, compared to the 13 in the same period in 2021. Arson investigators cited that the majority of the causes of fires resulted from carelessness in cooking, overloading of electrical appliances, overheating of household items, and faulty wiring.
Supt. Nestor Gorio, city fire marshall, reminded the public to be more careful and practice fire safety.
“Let us all practice fire safety, to avoid any fire and also for the safety of the family,” Gorio said.
