Ilocos Norte 2nd District Representative Imelda Marcos wants to go straight to the Supreme Court to appeal her graft conviction.
The Ilocos Norte politiko filed before the Sandiganbayan a Notice of Appeal requesting “that the records of the instant case be forwarded to the Supreme Court for further proceedings.”
The move means that Marcos is skipping the process of filling an appeal before the Sandiganbayan.
“To date, Motion for Leave filed by the Accused has not yet been resolved. With due respect, the Accused submits that the Decision convicting her is contrary to facts, law and jurisprudence,” Marcos said.
The Ilocos Norte politiko was found guilty of transferring around $200 million to seven Swiss foundations during her term as a member of the defunct Batasang Pambansa and as former Minister of Human Settlements
