Senator Imee Marcos backed President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to file charges against those behind the concession agreements of Manila Water and Maynila with the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System.

On Monday, December 9, the Ilocano politiko said access to water is a basic human right.

“Water is universally recognized as a human right and not a mere commodity,” said Marcos.

“I support President Duterte’s desire to assail these onerous contracts that deprive Filipinos both of their right to water as well as to impose liabilities upon the Philippine government even when service and supply fail,” she added.
