Senator Imee Marcos said the Philippines must cut its diplomatic relations with Iceland for leading the United Nations Human Rights Council’s resolution to review the country’s war on drugs.
The Ilocos Norte politiko called on the Duterte administration to “cut diplomatic ties with Iceland ASAP.”
“A strong statement is in order that the values and political agenda of other countries, many of them developed countries like Iceland, cannot be imposed on an independent country like the Philippines,” Marcos said.
Iceland, together with 17 other countries, voted for the UNHRC to probe the drug war killings.
“They point a finger at the Philippines for alleged human rights violations, yet they justify the killing of defenseless, unborn children,” Marcos said.
