Senator Imee Marcos called on retailers to stop the sudden spike in the prices of chicken in the market.
The Ilocos Norte politiko said the retail price of chicken is now P190-200 per kilo, up from P160-180 last month.
Marcos said the sudden increase in prices will definitely be felt by consumers especially that the Christmas season is approaching.
“Yes, the cost of chicken feed has gone up and chicken production dipped in some parts of Luzon,” she said.
“But the Department of Agriculture has already said the consumption of pork is going back to normal, so chicken prices should not be that steep,” Marcos added.
