Residents from at least six towns in Ilocos Sur have called for help and rescue as they were trapped on their roofs due to flash floods caused by Severe Tropical Storm “Maring”.
In a press briefing, Mark Masudog, Office of the Civil Defense in Ilocos, said rescue operations in Sta. Lucia, Sta. Cruz, Sta. Maria, Santiago, Narvacan towns, and the city of Candon were ongoing.
He assured that residents will be evacuated to a safer location as the typhoon continues to hit the province.
He also reported that rescue operations are harder due to impassable roads which was an aftermath of the nonstop rains and winds overnight.
