Ilocos Sur fishermen celebrates after catching P6,300-worth fish

A group of fishermen were caught celebrating after they caught a rare fish that has a P6,300 market value in Ilocos Sur.

In a video, the fishermen rejoiced after catching a bunch of fish locally known as ‘ipon’ in their nets. ‘Ipon’ are fingerlings freshly hatched from goby eggs. It is a known delicacy in the province.

In 2016, La Union placed a ban from fishing ‘ipon’ due to its decreasing population. However, it was lifted after a month.
