Ilocos Norte logs 3,700 tourists, expects more during the holidays

Ilocos Norte innovates its local tourism industry as part of its recovery in the new normal.

According to the Department of Tourism, 21 towns and two cities of Ilocos Norte are rebooting the province’s tourism development framework focusing on promoting more outdoor sites to attract tourists with no more testing required at the provincial borders for fully vaccinated individuals.

Provincial tourism officer Aianree Raquel reported that during the first half of December, 3,715 tourists visited Ilocos Norte. Majority of local tourists came from Nueva Ecija, Baguio City, Benguet, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, and Zamboanga Sibugay. Many also came from Metro Manila.

“The 5,891.94 percent increase is just for inbound visitors, and does not include data for locals,” she said. Raquel noted that the province is expecting more tourists until the year-end following more relaxed entry guidelines.
