Ilocos Norte, La Union, Pangasinan placed on Alert Level 3

Ilocos Norte, La Union, and Pangasinan are now placed under Alert Level 3, following an increase in new COVID-19 cases.

The Interagency Task Force (IATF), announced on Wednesday that three out of the four provinces in Region 1 will be implementing stricter measures against the spread of the virus starting January 14, Friday.

Pangasinan logged the majority of new active infections at 896, the Department of Health (DOH) in Region 1 said. Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte’s active cases jumped from only 13 on December 31, 2021 to at least 586 as of January 12. The DOH has also reported that La Union has the highest average daily attack rate in the region at 5.00 per 100,000 population.
