Ilocos Norte will be reallocating savings from personnel services and unappropriated surplus worth P60 million to pay for supplementary learning materials for its students, Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos said.

In an interview on Wednesday, June 22, the Politiko expressed their goal of improving its learner’s reading comprehension and skills.

She added that the provincial board has unanimously approved the appropriation ordinance after Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc certified it as urgent.

“We are putting a premium on education in the province, hence, the need to buy these supplementary materials for our Grade schoolers,” she said.

The Politiko also cited an earlier report that the Philippines scored the lowest among the 79 participating countries in reading comprehension.
