House Bill 8944 received 179 affirmative votes, no negative and six abstention votes.
If enacted, Alaminos will be included in the priority list for development of the Department of Tourism (DOT).
Within six months from the enactment of the measure, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) and other concerned agencies shall prepare a tourism development plan that shall include the construction, installation, and maintenance of appropriate facilities and infrastructure that shall enhance ecotourism in the area.
The measure seeks to generate economic growth in the town by providing employment opportunities through tourism activities among the residents of the municipality.
