Iligan City Mayor Josemarie Diaz declared May 4 as a local, special non-working holiday in the city to commemorate its 335th founding anniversary.
The Politiko signed Executive Order No. 026, Series of 2021 declaring a holiday in the city, citing historical accounts forming part of the journal and records of the province of Isabela that Ilagan was founded on May 4, 1686 during the Spanish regime.
While it is a holiday, Mayor Diaz reminded his constituents to celebrate ‘privately’ as the threats of the pandemic are still very present.
“In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic and to ensure the safety of every Ilagueno, the city government enjoins all constituents to celebrate privately and solemnly with prayers and hope for a safe and Covid-19 -free City of Ilagan,” Diaz said
