Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Singson issued an executive order placing two towns in the province under modified enhanced community quarantine or MECQ for two weeks starting June 28.
The Politiko expressed that the local government needs to heighten the restrictions and implement stricter guidelines as the number of active cases in Ilocos Sur continue to rise. As of June 27, there are 591 active cases in the province as a whole, of which at least 63 were in Sinait, and 30 in Sta. Lucia.
“Despite interventions and implementation of measures, the threat of COVID-19 in the province remains very high and alarming,” Singson said. He also explained that the movement of people in Sinait and Sta. Lucia would be limited to accessing only essential goods and services.
