CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — Former Commission on Elections commissioner and Isabela governor Maria Gracia Cielo Padaca filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for vice governor at the Comelec office here at past 12 noon on Monday.
Padaca, who served as governor for two terms from 2004 to 2010, filed her COC under Aksiyon Demokratiko party, her first political team when she ran for congresswoman in 2001.
She has been allied with Isabela (3rd District) Rep. Napoleon Dy, who filed his COC for governor last Thursday under the Nationalist People’s Coalition. Dy will be up against fellow congressman, (1st District) Rep. Rodolfo Albano III.
“I would offer again myself to my provincemates,” Padaca told reporters.
She will be pitted against incumbent governor Faustino Dy III who is due to finish his third consecutive term.
Dy III is half-brother of Rep. Dy.
Padaca was accompanied by her allies in filing her COC, including former Rep. Edwin Uy (PDP-Laban) who will seek to return to Congress for the newly created fifth district of Isabela, Elizabeth Felipe (NPC) of the second district, board member candidates and other local political leaders. (PNA)
