Ilocos Sur Governor Ryan Singson has lifted the border closure of the town of Cervantes to the Mountain Province.
The Ilocos Sur politiko shut down the borders of Cervantes to Mountain Province after the UK variant of the coronavirus disease (COVID19) was detected in the province.
Singson said the move was to prevent the spread of the new COVID19 variant.
In his executive order, Singson said that the he is lifting the border closure order because Mountain province is now under low epidemic risk.
“The Department of Health-Cordillera has reported that Mountain Province is under low epidemic risk level with a recorded 0% two-week growth change and 12.16 average daily attack rate,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Mountain Province provincial government “can now access hardware, aggregates, goods and other merchandise from the Ilocos Region by passing through Cervantes, Ilocos Sur and Bessang Pass.”
