Gov Marcos: Imelda’s gubernatorial bid withdrawal planned from the start
Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos on December 3 said 2nd District Representative Imelda Marcos’ decision to withdraw her gubernatorial bid was the plan from the very beginning.
The former First Lady was substituted by her grandson and the governor’s son, 2nd District Senior Board Member Matthew Manotoc, as gubernatorial candidate.
Manotoc was originally running for vice governor.
“Ah talaga naman plano ‘yan kasi ang tanda na niya eh. Binibiro nga kami, ‘Pambihira naman kayo eh, 100 years of service na ako,’ so talagang balak naman niya talaga,” Marcos said.
“Naglagay lang siya ng pangalan kasi ‘yung mga bata wala nga masyadong gusto sa politika kaya kinukumbinse pa noon,” she added.
Marcos also said her mother’s withdrawal was not because of her graft conviction.
“Wala naman, talagang plano mula’t sapul,” she said.
