Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos on April 16 called on the fisherfolk of Bacarra to maximize their new communal fish landing center.
The Ilocos Norte politiko made the challenge during the turnover of the P4.75-million communal fish landing center from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to the Bacarra municipal government.
The fish landing center will be used by seven coastal barangays to improve the processing and packaging of fish.
“It is important to make it fully functional and help each other as the coastal community continues to lag behind the rest of the population in poverty,” Marcos said.
She also said the landing center will help improve the fisherfolk’s livelihood especially since climate change has had a negative impact in fish production.
