Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba said he will wait for President Rodrigo Duterte’s go-signal before initiating “peace talks” with communist rebels in the province.
This after the attacks by the New People’s Army (NPA) in Buguey and Santa Teresita.
A Northernforum.com article said the Cagayan politiko will support whatever move Duterte will decide on the situation.
Mamba also said he already asked Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana for more troops to be assigned in Cagayan to counter the NPA.
Mamba added he wants local troops sent to Marawi City returned to Cagayan after the conflict there is resolved.#
