Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba on October 9 said attacks by the New People’s Army NPA might drive out investors from the province.
This after NPA attacks in Santa Teresita and Buguey last October 7.
Around 50 communist rebels attacked a quarry site owned by construction magnate Danila Tamayo.
The rebels burned two backhoes and a dump truck.
The NPA said the attack is punishment for Tamayo because his quarrying operations supposedly destroy water irrigation systems.
