Mountain Province Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr said there is a need for a province-wide information campaign against dengue.
The Mountain Province politiko made the remark after the provincial board declared a state of calamity because of the surge in dengue fever cases in the province this year.
Lacwasan said there were 503 dengue cases from January to August this year compared to the 117 cases during the same period last year.
He also lauded the provincial board for following the advice of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) to declare a state of emergency.
Lacwasan explained that the declaration will allow the provincial government to implement the necessary actions to prevent the further increase of dengue fever cases.
