Mountain Province Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan, Jr said the failure of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) to implement the long overdue rehabilitation of the historic Mount Data Hotel has set back the province’s tourism industry.
An initial P5 million was initially alloted for the hotel’s rehab.
Mount Data Hotel is currently closed.
It was last used in April 24, 2017.
“We are deeply saddened over the sudden turn of events that have greatly impacted on the province’s tourism industry but we are optimistic we will get a better deal with the concerned government agencies after the political season shall have passed and the situation shall have normalized,” Lacwsan said.
